How Does the LED Mask Work?

The LED mask works by emitting light wavelengths that stimulate fibroblasts within the skin. Fibroblasts support the tissues in the body. They produce collagen proteins that help tighten the skin and add youthful volume and plumpness.

Damaged tissue is restored as the LED light stimulates a healing response deep within the skin and improves blood circulation. The LED mask also kills acne-causing bacteria and reduces oil production to treat and prevent acne breakouts.

Frequently Asked Questions About
LED Mask Skin Rejuvenation

You may notice that your skin looks refreshed and more radiant immediately after your LED mask treatment. More significant results will gradually develop over four to six weeks after each treatment.

Results typically last six months after the final treatment in a series is completed. After that, patients can choose to undergo maintenance treatments every month or two.

We typically recommend a series of six LED mask treatments initially, with treatments spaced four to six weeks apart.

When to use your LED mask. LED light therapy should be undertaken when the skin is clean – after removing makeup and thoroughly cleansing the skin, and before you apply any serums, moisturisers or treatments.

Another FDA-cleared device, this is designed to be used two or three times per week. The makers say its lights can treat fine lines and wrinkles, and boost elasticity in sagging skin. It’s handheld — not a mask — so it will take longer to treat your entire face.

“It’s important that there is nothing on the skin to create a barrier.” You can then follow your LED session with your normal skin care products, such as serums and moisturisers. However, if you’re using an LED mask to treat acne, only use “gentle cleansers beforehand and light moisturisers afterwards.”
